Where Week 8 Stands Going Into Monday
Drew Campbell is the Head of Household. He nominated Yash Patel, La Trice Verrett and Taylor Brown, keeping all three names outside his own group. Yash then won the Power of Veto, which effectively handed Drew a problem instead of a win. Nine houseguests are left, Haley Thogmartin was eliminated in the medieval twist and did not go to the jury house, and that puts the jury’s first seat on this week’s eviction. Every conversation on the feeds since Saturday night has circled the same question, which is who Drew is willing to put in Yash’s chair.
Yash Is Taking Himself Off the Block
There is no suspense on this part. Yash has told everyone who has asked that he is using the veto on himself, and nobody in the house is pretending otherwise. That forces Drew to name a replacement out of a very short list, because his allies are the only people not already sitting on the block. The names in play on the feeds have been Melody Morris, Dee Valladares, Barrett Pfeiffer, Rick Devens and Angela Murray. Drew has spent two days trying to find a version of this where he does not lose a friend.
Devens Volunteered, Then Thought About It
Devens offered himself as the pawn first, which read as a classic veteran move at the time. Sit down, take the heat, walk out of the week looking loyal and untouchable. Then he actually thought about the math. Devens has never been nominated once this season, and he is the only houseguest who can still say that. Going up now would not be a formality. It would be the first real vote of his summer, in a week where the jury opens and the rookies have every reason to swing at a returning player.
He Spent Sunday Night Pushing Melody Instead
By Sunday night Devens had stopped volunteering and started campaigning, and the name he kept feeding into conversations was Melody. He admitted to being scared of the block, then spent hours building the case that Melody is the safer sit for everyone involved. It is a fast reversal even by his standards, and it is the kind of move that only works if nobody compares notes afterward. In this house, on this week, people are comparing notes constantly.
Barrett Is Ready to Shoot at the Icons
Barrett is the reason this could get away from Drew entirely. He has already signaled to Drew that he wants another crack at the returning players, and he told Melody flatly that if Devens goes up he will vote him out. That is not pawn talk. That is a rookie counting votes and realizing the alumni bloc only holds if the rookies keep agreeing to lose. Barrett has been used twice in three weeks by people who then protected each other, and he is done being polite about it.
Drew Does Not Want to Nominate Melody
Drew’s problem is that the easy answer is the one he keeps refusing. Melody is the cleanest pawn on paper and she is also the person he has spent the season calling his closest friend in the house. He has been visibly reluctant on the feeds every time her name comes up. Barrett and Devens are the alternatives, and both of them come with a real chance of the vote going sideways. Drew has been talking in circles for two days and has told people he is still not sure.
Dee and Angela Keep Saying LaLa
Underneath the renom noise, the eviction target has been drifting. Dee and Angela have both been pushing to send La Trice out over Taylor, and the reason they keep giving is her competition record. A pawn going up does not change that unless the pawn is somebody the house actually wants gone. So there are two live plans running at once. One evicts LaLa and keeps the alumni bloc intact. The other lets Barrett turn a pawn nomination into the first strike at the Icons all season.
What the Veto Meeting Actually Decides
The veto meeting happens Monday, and it is not just paperwork. If Drew puts up Melody, the week stays boring and LaLa probably goes. If he puts up Devens, Barrett has already promised his vote against a returning player and the rookies get their first clean shot at the bloc that has run the season. If he puts up Barrett, he burns the one rookie who has been carrying his water. Drew’s decision is the whole week, and he still does not know what it is.
