Three separate people in that house have independently decided to vote Rick Devens out tonight, none of them know the others are doing it, and Devens does not know any of it. The last time this house tried to coordinate a blindside it fell apart on the floor. This one is not being coordinated at all, which may be exactly why it holds.
Where the Block Stands
Rick Devens, La Trice Verrett and Taylor Brown are the nominees. Drew Campbell is the outgoing Head of Household and does not vote. Six houseguests are eligible: Yash Patel, Melody Morris, Dee Valladares, Angela Murray, Barrett Pfeiffer and whichever nominee comes off the block. Whoever leaves tonight becomes the first juror, and everybody in there knows it.
The Blockbuster Goes First
Before anyone votes, all three nominees play the BB Blockbuster live. The winner comes off the block and only the remaining two face the house. That competition has not happened yet, so every plan described below is contingent on Devens losing it. The backyard was locked Tuesday and Wednesday while it was built, which is the usual tell that it is a physical build rather than a quiz. That matters for handicapping it. A physical Blockbuster favors Taylor and La Trice over Devens, who is the oldest player left in the house by a distance.
Barrett Already Decided
Barrett Pfeiffer has committed to voting Devens out while continuing to tell Devens their alliance is fine. His reasoning on the feeds has been consistent and unusually blunt. He would rather go out eighth taking a shot at the returning players than stay loyal and finish fifth, and he has said outright he is not interested in handing this season to a Survivor player. That is a rookie doing the arithmetic on a jury he now has to sit in front of. Barrett has been used twice by people who then covered for each other, and he has stopped being quiet about it on the feeds. The only person he has not told is the person it is aimed at.
Dee and Angela Got There Separately
The part that makes this a genuine blindside is that Dee Valladares and Angela Murray arrived at the same conclusion on their own, with no idea Barrett was already there. Two of the returning players are planning to cut a third returning player, and the rookie they think they are using has beaten them to it. Nobody in that group has compared notes. Dee has been careful all week about wanting no blood on her hands, and she was quoted saying she still does not know if she can evict him. Wanting the outcome and wanting the fingerprints are different things, and Dee has spent the week trying to have one without the other. Angela floated fabricating a story that Devens was planning to betray Drew and Barrett, essentially inventing evidence to justify the vote after the fact. Dee pushed back on it and then came around to the conclusion anyway. Dee has been careful all week about wanting no blood on her hands, and she was quoted saying she still does not know if she can evict him. Wanting the outcome and wanting the fingerprints are different things.
The Count Is Five to One
Dee has been planning for a four to two vote. Barrett’s undisclosed flip makes it five to one, and at least one outlet has raised the possibility of it going unanimous. Nothing is locked, because votes in that house are not locked until the chair spins, but the direction is not in dispute across any of the feed coverage. Five to one means the person casting the single loyal vote will be immediately obvious to everyone in the jury house, which is its own small problem for whoever draws it.
Devens Has No Idea
He is confident. He joked that a painting Angela gave him looked like a going away present, which is the kind of line that ages badly by Friday. He has also worked the jury angle already, telling people he would withhold his vote at the end from anyone who betrayed the group, which is leverage that only works if the people hearing it believe you will be around to use it. If he goes tonight he becomes the first juror and that threat becomes real, which is the part of this plan nobody in the house seems to have thought all the way through.
If Devens Wins, It Gets Messy
If Devens takes the Blockbuster off the block, the vote becomes La Trice against Taylor and the whole plan resets in about ninety seconds of live television. Yash wants to keep La Trice. Barrett and Yash have talked about her being the stronger competitor worth keeping, which quietly moved Taylor into the worse position on Wednesday. Coverage disagrees on where Barrett actually lands in that scenario, so treat it as unsettled. La Trice campaigned hard on Wednesday, telling Barrett she would have his back and was ready to fight, and Dee and Angela have been coaching her to sell herself as the bigger target.
