Dee Valladares and Rick Devens have decided to vote Mallory Aurichio out on Thursday without telling Drew Campbell or Barrett Pfeiffer it is coming. Dee wanted to warn them. Devens spent fifteen minutes talking her out of it, and his argument was four words long.
Blindside Them and Ask for Forgiveness
That is Devens, at roughly 4:35pm Tuesday, making the case. His other line was even simpler: right now, he said, they just risk it.
Dee’s instinct was the opposite. Her position was that they could not blindside their own alliance members and expect the relationship to survive it. She lost the argument, and the plan now is to send Mallory home with two of the five people voting having no idea it is happening.
What Set Dee Off
The trigger was small and completely characteristic of this house. Dee was watching the spy screen in the HOH room, saw Drew and others standing at the memory wall, and decided Drew had pointed at her photograph.
Her response, out loud: your bestie is not going to be here next week. An HOH deciding a nomination based on where she thought somebody’s finger was pointing is not a great process, and it is the process that produced this week.
Mallory Walked Into It Herself
The hardest scene to watch happened Tuesday afternoon. Mallory went up to the HOH room on her own to make peace, apologized for her attitude, explained why she had not spoken at the ceremony, and promised she would not target the veteran players.
Then she asked directly whether Taylor Brown was the one Dee wanted gone. Dee told her yes, that is my target. They hugged. Ten minutes later Dee was alone with the camera saying that Mallory coming up did not help, because the plan required reasons to take her out and she was being genuinely nice.
The Vote as Dee and Devens Count It
Their math against Taylor is five to evict Mallory: Devens, Angela Murray, Haley Thogmartin, LaTrice Verrett and Yash Patel. No tie, no tiebreaker needed. Devens told Dee that if she ever had to break a tie she would not be alone doing it.
Barrett has now said twice that if Taylor wins the Blockbuster, he votes Mallory out. He also told Mallory to her face that she has his vote. Both of those things are on the feeds.
Haley Is the Loose Thread
Haley told Barrett Tuesday night she would vote Mallory out. She also told Mallory she would keep her over Taylor, and separately floated to Dee that maybe they should take Taylor out instead for jury reasons.
Dee has flagged her as easily manipulated and a vote they have to lock down. That read may be correct and it is also the read that makes her dangerous, because a person telling three different people three different things is not reliably countable by anyone.
Yash Is Working the Wrong Angle
Yash spent Tuesday pushing Dee and Devens to send Drew home instead, calling him too wishy washy. Devens turned the argument inside out on him: the fact that the group would be less upset about Drew leaving is exactly the reason to keep him.
Yash is also the person Mallory trusts most, he has told her he is voting to keep her, and Dee and Devens are counting his vote to evict her. He plans to corner Dee on Wednesday and ask her every scenario point blank. That conversation has not happened yet.
Barrett Has Half Figured It Out
After Devens spent Tuesday morning sounding him out, Barrett went to Drew and said the questions made him think this had been the plan from the start. He also took apart the justification, pointing out that Mallory would not be angry if Dee had not nominated her.
He has not connected the last piece, and his own double final two with Dee and with Drew remains undiscovered. Dee’s fear, stated to the camera late Tuesday night, is that telling Barrett means Mallory finds out, because he is a bad liar. Everything Depends on Thursday
Mallory has one path and it is the Blockbuster competition. Dee scouted it with her, rated her odds at one in two at best, and said she liked the house rumor that it is a rope competition because Taylor will not get herself out of a rope.
Thursday is Big Brother’s 1,000th episode, ninety minutes live, with the Blockbuster, a live eviction, returning houseguests chosen by fan vote and a twist producers have called something that has never been done. No returning names have been announced or leaked, and the houseguests have not been reported discussing it at all.
